At Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Rite of Naming and Anointing is a celebration of the name by which God knows and loves you. In it you are named and anointed with the oil of gladness, a blessing of the name you carry and a thanksgiving for the person God created you to be.
This rite is open to transgender persons and to cisgender persons alike, to anyone who wishes to ritually commit their name before God and the Church. Wherever you are on your journey, you are seen, named, and beloved here, without exception.
It is not a substitute for Confirmation, and it does not presuppose Baptism. The Rite of Naming and Anointing stands on its own as a sacred moment of blessing, open to all who long to claim their name in faith.
If you would like to celebrate the Rite of Naming and Anointing, for yourself or someone you love, please reach out to Father Brett. We would be honored to walk with you.
